Beautiful Stone

Architects: Baynes & Co.

Wickstead Lodge

This beautiful house was built on a site which was previously occupied by a typical vernacular house, includes an electronically moving wall which can cover a large window on the facade.
The site had various planning constraints which included the new building could only have small windows like its predecessor. This lead the architects to think of imaginative solutions to allow the interior spaces to have as much natural light as possible.
The moving wall not only allows the interior to be flooded with light when open, but also provides a beautiful effect at night when closed (see below!).

Small Living

Being short on money has made my imagination go into overdrive. Rent and bills to pay to live in a small room which does not accommodate all my needs is becoming a little soul destroying! It has led me to thinking about designing a small little house to build and live in (perhaps in my dreams). I found a few projects which I particularly love and feel the need to share......

Who wouldn't want to live in a bus when it could be like this! Small, compact, inspiring, transportable!

I love the idea of being able to reuse such an iconic piece of engineering into something which could become equally as iconic.
